Terms of use
Last updated 31 July 2026
The agreement between you and Roughline. It is short on purpose; nothing in it is hidden in a clause.
Using Roughline
Roughline is a canvas for notes, sketches and planning, with an AI that can answer questions about what you have drawn. You need a Google account to sign in. By using it you agree to these terms; if you do not, do not use it.
You must be at least 13 years old. Do not use Roughline to break the law, to store or generate material that is illegal, to harass anyone, or to attack the service — no scraping, no probing for vulnerabilities, no working around rate limits.
Your notes are yours
You keep ownership of everything you put into Roughline. Nothing here transfers any right in your content, and it is not used to train anyone’s models. The only permission you grant is the practical one needed to run the service: to store your content, show it back to you, send it to the AI provider when you ask a question, and show it to people you share a link with.
What the AI produces
Check anything that matters before acting on it. The AI generates plans, text and images by prediction. It can be confidently wrong — dates, figures and feasibility especially. It is a drafting aid, not advice.
Nothing Roughline produces is legal, financial, medical or professional advice. You are responsible for what you do with it, and for what you ask it to make: do not use it to generate content that infringes someone’s rights or that would be illegal to create.
Availability
Roughline is provided as it is, with no guarantee of uptime. Features may change or be removed. It may go down, and it may lose data — keep a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, using the export option in the canvas menu. Reasonable notice will be given before the service is shut down permanently.
Roughline is free while it is in early access. If paid plans are introduced, existing accounts will be told before anything they already rely on changes.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Settings on mobile or the account menu on the web. That erases your content immediately and permanently — see the privacy policy for exactly what goes.
Access may be suspended or removed for breaking these terms, for abusing the service, or where required by law.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Roughline is provided without warranties of any kind, and Jay Heo is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost or corrupted data arising from your use of it. Some places do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as they legally can.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Roughline after that means you accept the new terms.
